Finishing a church build

Posted on March 5, 2020 by David Lomasney

I just received a call from Pastor Roberto from New Heights church in La Guitarra, Retalhuleu, Guatemala. My friend Victor Davila finished the roof of their church building this morning. The Pastor was choking back tears of joy as he thanked me, Integrity International, and all of our friends and donors. I related to him that the pleasure was mine and that I was so happy that we could help. I shared that our part was the easy part and charged him and the church to stay busy about the work of the kingdom of God. What joy it gives me to be part of changing the life of a Pastor, church, community, or country.

As I’m sure you know, I believe that the local church is very important even essential to the life of a person that wants to follow our Lord Jesus Christ. Luke 4:16 says “as His custom was, He (Jesus) went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day” If Jesus went to church then I believe that you and I must be involved in supporting our local church as well. We go to be equipped and to equip others.

In our work we have no desire to control or manipulate the local Pastors or churches we are helping, we just desire to come alongside and be a help. They have the same task in front of them that we do, winning people to Jesus in their local community, then disciplining them so that they can take their part in the local church and the body of Christ at large.

Why? It’s simple really, there is no salvation apart from Jesus Christ. Having come to faith in Him it’s our duty and pleasure to serve Him by serving others.

Thanks for reading!
